How to Spot Red Flags During an Interview

Have you ever left an interview that you were originally thrilled about feeling as if something just wasn't quite right? Several things could have made you feel this way from the interviewer making you wait an obscene amount of time to be seen or even dodging questions about salary. #1) Vague Answers:  

If you are asking specific questions and the interviewer is giving vague answers, this could be a sign that they aren't being truthful. Oftentimes, if an interviewer is trying to hide something, they will be less than forthcoming with their answers.  

#2) Rudeness:  

No one deserves to be treated poorly and if you experience rudeness during your interview, it's best to move on. An interviewer who is rude or condescending is likely to be difficult to work with and may even be abusive down the road.  

#3) Evasiveness Regarding Salary:  

If an interviewer dodges questions about salary or benefits, this could be a sign that they are trying to lowball you. While it's always best to know what the company is willing to pay, an interviewer who is unwilling to discuss this topic may have something to hide.  

#4) Asking Personal Questions:  

It's normal for interviewers to ask about your work history and experience, but they should not be asking personal questions such as your marital status or age. This type of questioning is inappropriate and could be a sign that the company is not interested in hiring you for the right reasons.  

#5) Making You Wait:  

If you are kept waiting for an unreasonable amount of time and not given any explanation from your interviewer, it's likely that the interviewer has already made up their mind about who they want to hire for the position. This is not only rude but also unprofessional as it wastes your time.
