💼 Position: Diesel Mechanic

🔹 Job Duties:
- Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical issues on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, including fuel systems, emissions control, and cooling systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems associated with diesel engines.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on diesel vehicles and equipment to prevent unexpected failures.
- Change oil and filters, inspect brakes, and check fluid levels according to maintenance schedules.
- Replace worn or defective parts such as bearings, pistons, valves, and gaskets.
- Install and repair components of braking, steering, and suspension systems on diesel vehicles.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify diesel equipment and structures.
- Adhere to safety standards and procedures while performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to diesel emissions and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used.
- Provide detailed reports to supervisors on the condition of vehicles and equipment.
- Work collaboratively with other mechanics, technicians, and support staff to complete repairs and projects efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and vehicle operators regarding repair timelines and vehicle status.
🔹 Requirements:
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in a fleet maintenance or automotive repair environment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine components and systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Physical ability to lift heavy parts and equipment, and perform strenuous tasks.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if required).
🔹 Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a diesel mechanic program or vocational school.
- Experience with heavy-duty diesel engines (e.g., trucks, construction equipment).
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic systems (e.g., CAT ET, Cummins Insite).
- Knowledge of diesel engine emissions control systems and regulations.
