Job Full Description
- Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment and machinery to prevent breakdowns (e.g., lubrication, cleaning, replacing worn parts).
- Inspect machinery, systems, and buildings to identify issues before they cause failures.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts used. - Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues in machinery, equipment, HVAC systems, or building infrastructure.
- Repair or replace faulty parts, components, or systems to restore equipment to operational condition.
- Use diagnostic tools, meters, and manuals to identify the source of problems. - Install new machinery, equipment, or systems, ensuring they are set up properly according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Calibrate equipment to ensure optimal operation.
- Test new equipment to ensure it functions correctly and safely before putting it into regular use. - Follow all safety protocols, ensuring that maintenance work is done in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure that machinery and equipment meet industry standards and that proper safety equipment is used (e.g., lock-out/tag-out procedures).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize hazards and avoid accidents. - Monitor the performance of equipment to detect any irregularities or potential problems early.
- Use tools like gauges, meters, and other instruments to assess system health and performance.
- Make adjustments or recalibrate machines when necessary to ensure optimal operation. - Keep accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, inspections, and replacement parts used.
- Track maintenance logs and inventory to ensure parts and tools are readily available when needed.
- Generate reports for supervisors or managers regarding the status of machinery and systems. - Work with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and operators to coordinate tasks and ensure that all systems are running smoothly.
- Communicate with supervisors about the progress of work, issues identified, and timelines for repairs or replacements.
- Work with vendors or outside contractors as necessary for specialized repairs or equipment servicing. - Respond to urgent maintenance requests and equipment failures, particularly in critical areas such as production lines or safety systems.
- Work under pressure to perform emergency repairs while minimizing downtime and impact on operations. - Suggest or implement upgrades to machinery, systems, or processes to improve efficiency or meet new performance standards.
- Modify equipment or installations based on new requirements or to accommodate changes in production needs. - Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for maintenance work.
- Order or request replacement parts and materials as needed to keep operations running smoothly. - Stay current on new maintenance technologies, equipment, and techniques through training or continuing education.
- Provide guidance or training to other staff or junior technicians, especially on equipment handling or safety practices. - In addition to machinery, may be responsible for general upkeep of the building or facility, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and structural integrity.
- Perform minor repairs on building infrastructure, such as fixing leaks, patching walls, and maintaining lighting and electrical systems.
