POSITION SUMMARY
The HVAC-R Technician Assistant assists the HVAC-R Technician with maintenance tasks on commercial and industrial air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the HVAC-R Technician. The HVAC-R Technician Assistant position is “Safety Critical”. Successful applicant must submit to and pass a drug screen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides support for the department. In addition to other duties as assigned, will assist the HVAC-R Technician with maintenance and repairs. Will replace air filters, water filters and drive belts as scheduled. Will perform minor electrical and refrigeration related troubleshooting tasks. After the work, the HVAC-R Technician will check results achieved in conformance with Local, State and Federal Regulations.
- Performs minor preventative maintenance and repairs on all HVACR equipment.
- Replaces filters, small motors, and belts and adjusts manual thermostats as scheduled or required.
- Assists the HVACR Technician with compressor replacements and other similar labor-intensive maintenance tasks.
- Aids in the procurement of replacement parts and equipment through pickup and delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Work requires continual attention to details. Must exhibit excellence in Customer Service with customers. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a High School education and at least one year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have and must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Universal HVAC Certification required
