Job Summary:
The Home Packing Specialist is responsible for packing, organizing, and preparing a home’s contents for restoration following damage or before major renovations. This role requires careful handling, proper packing techniques, and clear communication with clients and restoration teams to ensure belongings are safely stored and ready for restoration work.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Planning:

    • Conduct a thorough assessment of the home and its contents before packing begins.
    • Work closely with homeowners, contractors, and restoration teams to understand the scope of the restoration.
    • Create an organized plan for packing and storing items safely.
  2. Packing Items:

    • Carefully pack household items, including furniture, clothing, valuables, electronics, artwork, and fragile items.
    • Use appropriate packing materials, such as bubble wrap, packing peanuts, boxes, and tape, to ensure items are securely packed.
    • Label all packed items clearly for easy identification upon unpacking after restoration.
  3. Furniture and Large Items:

    • Disassemble and wrap larger furniture and appliances for safe transport or storage.
    • Take extra precautions for valuable or antique items to prevent damage during the packing and moving process.
  4. Inventory Management:

    • Create a detailed inventory list of packed items, noting the condition of each item before it is packed.
    • Ensure that the inventory is organized and easily accessible for future reference.
  5. Storage and Transportation:

    • Safely transport packed items to a secure storage facility or designated area for safekeeping during the restoration process.
    • Ensure items are stored in a manner that prevents further damage or deterioration.
  6. Coordination with Restoration Teams:

    • Communicate regularly with the restoration team to ensure timely completion of the packing and moving process.
    • Provide updates and address any concerns that may arise regarding the packing process or items to be restored.
  7. Customer Service:

    • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any concerns or questions from homeowners during the packing process.
    • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while handling homeowners’ personal property.
  8. Cleanup and Final Inspection:

    • Ensure the home is cleared of all packing materials and debris after the packing process is complete.
    • Perform a final inspection of the home to ensure everything is packed and secured for restoration.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in packing, moving, or restoration services preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle fragile and valuable items with care.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with clients and teams.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Physical stamina to work for extended periods of time and perform manual tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily working in residential homes, with potential exposure to debris, dust, and varying temperatures depending on the nature of the restoration.
