Job Description: Warehouse/Stocker (Building Materials)

Job Overview:

 

  • Inventory Management:

    • Receive incoming shipments of building materials, inspect them for quality and damage, and verify product quantities against purchase orders.

    • Stock materials in appropriate locations within the warehouse, ensuring items are stored securely and labeled clearly for easy retrieval.

    • Conduct regular stock checks and inventory counts to ensure product availability and minimize discrepancies.

    • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory audits as required.

  • Order Fulfillment:

    • Pull orders for customers and contractors, ensuring all items are correctly selected, packaged, and ready for delivery or pickup.

    • Prepare materials for shipment by ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and documentation.

  • Safety and Cleanliness:

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment by following safety protocols and reporting any hazards.

    • Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.

  • Customer Service Support:

    • Assist customers (both in-person and over the phone) by answering questions about product availability, specifications, and order status.

    • Ensure that materials are correctly and promptly stocked to support customer needs and avoid delays.

  • General Warehouse Duties:

    • Assist in unloading deliveries and organizing materials as needed.

    • Participate in regular cleaning and maintenance of warehouse equipment and facilities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in warehouse operations or stock management, preferably in the building materials industry.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials

  • Familiarity with warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) and safe operating procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of building materials, tools, and hardware is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one (if applicable).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, bend, and lift materials for long periods.

  • Ability to safely operate warehouse machinery.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position with flexible shifts; may include evenings, weekends, or overtime based on demand.
