Job Full Description
Summary/Objective
The quality control technician is responsible for testing materials and finished products to ensure they conform to customer provided part specifications (prints, and or, DXF) and company standards. Quality control technicians test products across the three stages of production (before, in-process, and final) to ensure quality levels are met. Quality control technicians work on a variety of parts from simple to highly complex and many different material types and finishes.
Essential Functions
- Maintain inspection reports as requested by quality manager.
- Maintain calibration of quality control equipment
- Perform inspections across all stages of production.
- Prepare and maintain test data for review.
- Evaluate data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards.
- Identify areas for quality control improvement.
- Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency to quality manager.
- Maintain clean and organized work environment including the utilization of staging lanes / zones.

- Attention to Detail: Quality technicians need to be meticulous in their work and have a keen eye for detail. They must be able to spot even the slightest defects or variations in products or services.
- Analytical Skills: Quality technicians must be able to analyze data and use statistical methods to identify trends and patterns. They need to be able to make data-driven decisions and recommendations to improve quality.
- Technical Knowledge: Quality technicians must have a solid understanding of the products and services they are responsible for. This includes knowledge of manufacturing processes, industry standards, and quality control procedures.
- Communication Skills: Quality technicians need to be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, and customers. They must be able to explain technical information in a clear and concise manner and be able to work collaboratively with others.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Quality technicians must be able to identify problems and develop solutions to address them. They need to be able to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Organizational Skills: Quality technicians must be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. They need to be able to prioritize their work effectively and meet deadlines.
- Must have a firm understanding and ability to interpret blueprints and their specifications.
- Must be able to utilize measuring equipment to include but not limited to tape measures, calipers, protractors, micrometers, and height gauges.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Blueprint reading (GDT is a plus but not a must).
- 2-5 years of inspection and/or production experience (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, metric conversation to standard.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Quality control technicians may be required to stand for extended periods while inspecting products on assembly lines or in production areas.
- Bending and Reaching: Quality control technicians may need to bend, reach, and stretch to access products in difficult-to-reach areas.
- Lifting: Quality control technicians may be required to lift heavy equipment or products that weigh up to 50 pounds or more.
- Repetitive Motions: Quality control technicians may perform repetitive motions such as inspecting products, which can be physically demanding.
- Operating Equipment: Quality control technicians may be required to operate equipment such as calipers, gauges, and measuring devices, which can require manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
