Position: Senior Account Clerk
Location: Texarkana, TX
Hours: Mon-Fri 8-5
Salary: $39,000-53,0000/year based on experience and qualifications
A well-established organization in Texarkana, TX is seeking a Senior Account Clerk to join its finance team. This role is responsible for processing disbursements, including checks and electronic funds transfers, for vendor invoices, capital purchases, overpayments, and deposit refunds. Additional responsibilities include coordinating contract labor payments, managing W-9s, reconciling travel expenses, balancing vendor statements, and preparing 1099s annually. The Senior Account Clerk will also maintain A/P files for audits, prepare year-end accruals, and assist with audit requests as needed. The position reports directly to the Controller/Finance Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process vendor payments, capital purchases, and deposit refunds.
- Coordinate contract labor payments through accounts payable.
- Manage and reconcile vendor statements and travel expenses.
- Prepare and maintain required tax documentation, including W-9s and 1099s.
- Organize and maintain A/P files for audits and assist with year-end accruals.
- Work closely with internal teams and vendors to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, or business preferred.
- At least one year of experience in accounts payable or related accounting work.
- Strong knowledge of office practices and proficiency with standard office equipment.
- Ability to perform accurate numerical calculations and maintain financial records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with vendors and colleagues.
- Physical ability to perform office-related tasks, including lifting up to 20 lbs., filing, and extended periods of sitting.
- Valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
