PART TIME 16 HOURS A WEEK DELIVERY DRIVER POSITION AVAILABLE!
WPE Coordinator/Drivers are responsible for collecting, inspecting, loading, and delivering perishable and nonperishable food from donors and delivering to recipient organizations. Coordinators are also responsible for maintaining positive relationships with donors, recipients, and the community. They may also work on the clothing dock receiving and processing individual and corporate donations. Coordinator/Drivers are the face of our organization, and as such must be passionate about and committed to our mission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collects prepared, perishable, and other rescued foods from retail stores, farmers’ markets, and wholesale partners; informs supervisor of any problems or issues in a timely manner.
- Delivers food to recipient organizations; informs supervisor of any problems or issues in a timely manner.
- Collects and delivers products following all state and federal food safety handling guidelines.
- Executes pick-ups and deliveries according to the daily schedule; works with dispatcher and scheduler to make scheduling adjustments as needed.
- Accurately records collections and distributions in WPE’s inventory system.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with WPE staff, volunteers, donors, and recipient organizations
- Contacts donor/recipient organizations to ensure smooth pick-up and delivery of donations, delays, or other issues.
- As available, works on the WPE General Store loading dock, unloading, processing donations, and distributing clothes to recipient partners.
- Meets weekly with manager to provide updates and review issues.
- Participates in all staff meetings
- Communicates clearly and effectively in verbal and written interactions
- Responds to outreach from management/office staff in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of customer service.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of donor and recipient organizations by responding to their needs in a timely manner or informing a manager if unable to do so.
- Maintains a clean and orderly vehicle cab and cargo area.
- Practices safe and lawful driving at all times and follows legal parking procedures as outlined by the organization.
Forklift / Warehouse Operations:
- Moves, stacks, and palletizes food and clothing for transport.
- Loads pallets from donor warehouse locations into truck and unloads at distribution center.
- Loads trucks using electric pallet jack and liftgates.
- Familiar with the truck lift-gate and payload capacity.
- Operates the following equipment: hand trucks, manual pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
- Complies with OSHA standards.
- Accurately records pallet weights.
- Secures pallets using straps or shrink wrap to keep load on pallet during movement
- Maintains facility equipment and a clean and orderly workspace.
- Ensure all forklifts and pallet jacks are stored properly and plugged into a charging station at the end of each shift.
- When forklifts are operated with volunteers present, sets up appropriate safety barrier to keep them safe and stores safety barriers after use.
Skills
- Food handling experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Desire to work with various age, economic, racial and ethnic groups with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, and climb in and out of a dock-high vehicle.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lifting and maneuvering 60 lbs.).
- Ability to work in refrigerated areas (cooler and freezer).
