Carbon Fabricator

Job Description for a Carbon Fabricator:

Fabricate, process, inspect and package carbon/carbon products for a textile research, development, and manufacturing company in Gardena. Continuously improve processes to increase productivity and reduce defects.

 Pay:  $20 Hr.

Hours:  1st shift: 5am – 1pm / 2nd Shift: 2pm-10p

Responsibilities of a Carbon Fabricator:

  • Read, interpret Brakes molding fabrication specifications, work order instructions, quality assurance instructions, work order auxiliary and supplementary instructions, company customer’s specifications, understand MSDS and safety rules. Measure tolerances on job during production. Maintain and perform daily housekeeping. Must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Calculate amounts, cut sheets, shape, and chop prepreg. Operate and perform light maintenance of equipment including chopper changeover.
  • Weigh and load chopped prepreg material into molding tools.
  • Operate material handling equipment, forklifts, and hoists.
  • Load and operate hydraulic presses.
  • Inspect parts using visual and Data Myte systems.
  • Mask brake assembly components. Apply primer. Spray paint per Work Order Instructions. Load and operate ovens.
  • Operate rivet, drill engraver, and band saw machines including setup.
  • Update and maintain measuring devices and Data Myte system this will include programming of inspection criteria for new configurations.
  • Train coworkers to create a fully cross-trained production team.
  • Actively and effectively participate in work and problem-solving teams. Identifying goals and process improvement opportunities.

Requirements and Responsibilities of a Carbon Fabricator:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and training program, operating and maintenance instructions, and equipment manuals, code requirements, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Brakes molding and CVD fabric product specifications, Work Order instructions, Quality Assurance Instructions, Material specification, while routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with groups of employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide figures, decimal-fraction conversions, and calculate using simple formulas. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education and/or Experience:

High school graduate or GED plus one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
