Express Employment LAX is looking for a cold environment packer for a local company in the LAX region. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable individual to assist in the packing of fruits, vegetables, and flowers in a cold storage environment. This position involves preparing and packaging fresh produce and flowers for distribution while ensuring that all items are handled and packed according to food safety and quality standards. Job Description for Packer (Cold Environment):
- Packing Produce and Flowers: Carefully sort and pack fruits, vegetables, and flowers for shipment, ensuring that items are handled with care to prevent damage.
- Temperature Control: Work in a cold storage environment (temperature-controlled) to ensure the freshness and quality of the items being packed.
- Quality Control: Inspect fruits, vegetables, and flowers for defects, damage, or signs of spoilage, and remove any subpar items.
- Labeling and Documentation: Properly label packages with product details, batch numbers, and expiration dates as required.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the packing area clean and organized, ensuring that food safety standards and hygiene protocols are adhered to.
- Inventory Management: Assist in the inventory management process, including tracking quantities of packed goods and reporting discrepancies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to meet daily packing targets and ensure smooth operations.
Requirements for Packer (Cold Environment):
- Ability to work in cold environments (temperatures typically ranging from 32°F to 40°F)
- Physical stamina for standing, bending, and lifting heavy boxes or crates
- Previous experience in packing, food handling, or a warehouse environment is a plus
- Attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues in produce and flowers
- Knowledge of safety standards and food handling practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work weekends, and overtime during peak seasons
