Express is recruiting for full-time Developmental Trainers
This position will go directly onto our client's payroll and team rather than going through an evaluation period on the Express payroll.
The Developmental Trainer provides 1:1 assistance to individuals with a brain injury. This assistance is designed to support the needs of Making Headway Center participants and build independence within the community of their choice. Developmental Trainers follow the directives of the Case Support Department.
Qualifications:
At minimum, a high school diploma or GED; preferably working toward a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and with one year of experience in a health and human services field. Experience with and/or knowledge about brain injury is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and a safe, reliable, fully-insured vehicle. Must be able to pass a background check.
Specific Job Duties:
- Reports directly to the Client Services Coordinator
- Works collaboratively and communicates daily with the case support team
- Instructs, models, encourages and assists participants in daily living and any other areas of concern as identified by participant and other team members
- While working with individual participants, follows their Individual Service Plan and assists participant in meeting stated objectives
- Observes, assesses and investigates participant’s basic physical and emotional status during each contact, and records observations
- Assists participants with daily and weekly schedules
- Transports participants to and from daily program, special events, and other appointments or activities
- Accompanies participants to medical, legal, educational or other related appointments in order to facilitate clear and assertive communication and monitor follow-through as needed
- Maintains weekly and daily participant records in accordance with agency policy and submits completed records in a timely manner
- May facilitate support groups, teach classes, participate in agency events, or other duties as assigned
- Attends case support and general office meetings as scheduled
Demonstrated Abilities Required:
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with brain injured participants, their families and caregivers with sensitivity, respect and patience
- Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, present options, and advocate for brain injured participants
- Requires excellent planning, prioritizing and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to consistently exercise good judgment; analyze and solve problems; coordinate multiple assignments; and maintain up-to-date, accurate records
- Demonstrated ability to function as a cooperative and flexible team member; as well as work independently and check in when appropriate
- Must be self-motivated and self-directed while adhering to the clients policies and guidelines
- Must be able to appropriately and accurately represent the client and their services, vision and mission to participants, family members, other service providers/professionals, and the community at large
Other Requirements: Competency with computers including basic office applications (word processing, spreadsheets), Internet use and email protocol.

- Ability to operate a computer and other equipment in the office necessary to the position
- Must have sufficient mobility to move around clients office and surroundings, and to interact freely in the community
- Ability to bend and stoop in order to file and shelve
Advancement Potential:
A minimum of 2,000 hours of 1:1 service provision is necessary for those interested in advancing to the level of Developmental Trainer II.
Schedule & Location
Monday - Friday in Eureka. This position is in-person, not remote.
Compensation
$17.50 for M-F Shifts
$17.75 for Overnight and Weekend Shifts
