Staff Nurse

Northridge, CA

Full time – Temp to hire

Monday thru Friday – 8am to 5pm

$40 to $43hr depending on experience.

 

A religious nonprofit medical clinic offering free pregnancy testing, ultrasound exams, options education, pregnancy and parenting classes and material resources is seeking a Staff Nurse to join their team in Northridge.

 

Summary: The Staff Nurse provides support and care to patients by performing pregnancy testing and ultrasound exams, and providing health education.  The Staff Nurse maintains professional standards of care following the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics. The Staff Nurse also plays a key role in ensuring the patient feels at ease and treated with respect and compassion.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care, assess patient needs and make nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices.
  • Collect urine specimens, administer pregnancy tests, and analyze and report results.
  • Perform limited OB ultrasound exams and promptly upload scans into client file for review by physician.
  • Work in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and case managers to assure that patients are receiving the best medical, nursing, and psychosocial care possible.
  • Provide education for patient and family regarding their pregnancy, development of their baby, abortion procedures and risks, birth control, and their sexual health.
  • Maintain patient medical records on relevant information gathered.
  • Assure accurate implementation of physician’s orders.
  • Oversee patient follow-up per patient care-plan and standardized procedures.
  • Provide assistance and support to medical providers as needed.
  • Ensure collaborative communication between and among Front Office, Back Office, and Physicians. 
  • Contribute to a staff community that encourages understanding and implementation of organizational values, respect, collaboration, teamwork and healthy conflict resolution. 
  • Ensure exam rooms are prepared and restocked for the needs of the day.  
  • Prepare, handle, and discard biohazard waste properly. 
  • Sterilize instruments and clean exam rooms per policy. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Active registered nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Passionate about serving those facing unintended pregnancy and related decisions. 
  • Solid knowledge of what the Bible says about the gospel, the sanctity of human life and human sexuality and able to apply those principles in serving clients.
  • Show non-judgmental compassion and care regardless of the patient’s choice. 
  • Ability to use and maintain all medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Understanding of medical practice operations and policies to administer patient care.
  • Identify common safety hazards and precautions needed to establish a safe work environment.
  • Positive attitude with a patient-service mindset, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate compassion, patience and understanding of patients.
  • Proficient in the correct use of medical terminology.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to identify and perform initial and next steps without oversight.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Flexible and strong desire to learn and adapt.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and additional software applications.
