Dispatch Assistant

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour, DOE

8:00am to 5:00pm / Mon - Fri

A successful logistics company in the city of Norwalk is looking for a Dispatch Assistant to oversee customer interactions and ensure smooth logistics operations. The ideal candidate will have Logistics experience and a basic understanding of driver routing, excellent time management skills, and the ability to efficiently book and coordinate orders and vendors. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks effectively while delivering outstanding service. You are applying through Express Employment Professionals, an award-winning Staffing Firm, for this long-term position. 

Dispatch Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone and email, ensuring all issues are addressed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Book and set up orders/vendors, coordinating delivery schedules.
  • Manage driver routing tasks and ensure drivers are on schedule for timely deliveries.
  • Track orders and drivers to provide updates to customers; follow up to resolve any delays or issues.
  • Handle customer complaints with empathy, efficiency, and a focus on finding solutions.
  • Manage and prioritize scheduling tasks, ensuring proper time management for all logistics-related activities.
  • Maintain effective communication with vendors, drivers, and customers to ensure smooth operations and resolve any logistical challenges.

Dispatch Assistant Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in dispatching, customer service, logistics, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of driver routing and scheduling in a logistics or transportation environment.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues in a calm and professional manner.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and logistics software (preferred).
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, and team-oriented with a proactive approach to work.
