Job Full Description
Instrumentation Technician under general supervision, performs skilled duties in the design, construction, installation, modification, calibration, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical and electronic control systems and related devices used in the storage, pumping and distribution of wastewater and potable water.
Duties:
- Troubleshoot new control and communication systems and installations
- Perform project management on special projects
- Modifies, installs and supports PLC-based controls and instrumentation logic
- Plans and completes jobs from drawings, sketches, work orders and verbal instructions
- Test, troubleshoot, calibrate, program, and perform preventative maintenance on:
- PLCs, HMIs, Power Supplies, Relays, Contractors, Motor Starters, Circuit Breakers. Switches Pumps.
- Disconnect electrical sources, use lockout/tagout procedures
- Read and interpret as- built drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and P&IDs
- Other job duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Work after hours including evenings and weekends
- Ability to work with wastewater and wastewater pumping systems
- Work out of town and drive several hours to the job site
- Must have a High School Diploma/GED
- 5 years of work experience in this capacity
- California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade 2 preferably
- Or a CWEA Electrical and instrumentation Technologist Grade 3 Certificate
Pay Rate: $27-$35/hr
