Job Full Description

Position Summary:

The Underground Technician learns and performs semi-skilled and skilled manual labor for the construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, and operation of underground utilities. Tasks involve the use of hand tools and light motorized equipment on complex pump station, stormwater, wastewater and water construction, repair and rehabilitation projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Operation: Use shovel, jackhammer, dump truck, sprayer, trencher, pipe cutter, welder, compressor, mini vac trucks, and jetter trailers.
  • Site Preparation and Maintenance: Set up/tear down work sites, install shoring, inspect and load/unload trucks, and assist with site investigations.
  • Construction and Installation: Install pipe liners, apply concrete mud, mix/pour/finish concrete, and perform trenching work.
  • Traffic and Safety Compliance: Set up traffic control, perform flagging, follow DOT regulations, inspect vehicles, and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Technical and Software Use: Utilize ArcGIS software and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Some relevant experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities related to primarily, but not limited to sanitary sewer, storm drain and water line conveyance systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years as an Underground Technician or relevant experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities related to primarily, but not limited to sanitary sewer, storm drain and water line conveyance systems.

 

M-F, 8AM-5PM

$25-$38/hour, DOE
