Position Summary:
We are seeking a Loan Resolution Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for handling mid-stage delinquency collection activities for consumer loans, negative shares, and home equity loans. You will work directly with members to resolve outstanding accounts, manage vehicle repossession processes, and ensure compliance with all regulations and department policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delinquency Collection: Monitor and manage daily queues to ensure that each account scheduled for contact is handled according to department procedures.
  • Demand Letters & Repossession: Ensure that appropriate demand letters are sent to members before initiating repossession actions.
  • Repossession Paperwork: Prepare and submit paperless repossession files for voluntary vehicle surrenders.
  • Skip Tracing: Perform basic skip tracing on delinquent loans and document results in the system.
  • Vehicle Location & Fees: Contact impound, storage facilities, or repair shops for vehicle location and related fees. Address opposition of lien sales when applicable.
  • Data Reconciliation: Perform data reconciliation and research to ensure accuracy in collections and account balances.
  • Credit Information Review: Review and request corrections to members’ credit files, including requesting adjustments for incorrect credit reporting.
  • Operational Efficiency: Contribute ideas to improve operational procedures, efficiency, and service quality, ensuring consistency in the collection process.
  • Member & Staff Support: Respond to general and escalated collection inquiries from members and staff regarding loan payments, past due notices, and account statuses.
  • Positive Image: Promote and maintain a positive image of the Credit Union to members, personnel, and the community.
  • Compliance & Development: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and department policies. Provide input for enhancing departmental processes and employee development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in collections and repossessions, ideally in a financial or lending environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with members and staff.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to handle difficult situations with members and resolve issues effectively and professionally.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and processing requests efficiently.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements in the collections industry.
