 The Controller will oversee all aspects of a company's accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, typically reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and providing crucial financial data to inform business decisions; manage the entire accounting department alone.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash  flow statement) according to GAAP or other relevant accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Generate reports for management to inform decision-making.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Develop annual budgets and monitor performance against budget targets.
  • Prepare financial forecasts to anticipate future financial needs.

Accounting Operations Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.

Internal Controls

  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy. 
  • Conduct regular internal control audits and identify areas for improvement.

Tax Compliance 

  • Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate tax filings. 

Compliance and Audit Support 

  • Coordinate with external auditors during financial statement audits.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting and regulatory standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
  • Extensive experience in accounting and financial management roles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Leadership and team management abilities
