Now Hiring: Formulation Scientist (R&D)

Pay Rate: $28 – $32/hour (DOE)

Schedule: Monday – Friday | On-Site

Location: Torrance, CA

 

A well-established and growing contract manufacturer of dietary supplements is seeking a skilled and motivated Formulation Scientist to join their R&D team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for innovation, product development, and hands-on formulation work in the health and wellness industry.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Formulation Scientist will be responsible for developing new formulations, improving existing products, evaluating raw materials, and supporting manufacturing scale-up processes. This role is essential in ensuring regulatory compliance, product performance, and customer satisfaction across a variety of nutritional supplement formats, including powders, tablets, and capsules.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop new dietary supplement formulations based on customer specifications

• Create lab-scale samples including powders, tablets, and capsules

• Interpret customer requests and translate them into effective prototypes

• Support manufacturing scale-up and formulation transfer to production

• Provide technical guidance to internal teams and customers

• Evaluate and source new or alternative raw materials for performance and cost efficiency

• Maintain clear and accurate documentation throughout product development

• Operate equipment such as tablet presses, encapsulation machines, ribbon and V-blenders

• Ensure compliance with GMP, safety standards, and internal R&D procedures

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field

• 2+ years of industry experience in dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, or related field

• Hands-on experience in granulation techniques and solid dose development

• Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing and regulatory guidelines

• Ability to develop functional food and nutraceutical prototypes aligned with sensory and nutritional targets

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and customer interaction

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and move up to 50 lbs when handling raw materials or equipment

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
