Our client in North Hollywood, CA is seeking a Diesel Mechanic

Narrative Description:
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling diesel-powered equipment and vehicles used to support aerospace operations. This includes ground support equipment (GSE), power generation units, and specialized diesel machinery essential to aerospace production and maintenance activities. The position requires strict adherence to safety standards, aerospace protocols, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
1.    Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, including hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components on ground support and aerospace-related diesel equipment.
2.    Perform preventive maintenance on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness and longevity.
3.    Diagnose and resolve engine performance issues, including fuel system malfunctions, emissions control, and cooling systems.
4.    Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are performed in compliance with industry safety standards, company policies, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
5.    Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
6.    Perform fieldwork as necessary, including emergency repairs on-site or in the field.
7.    Collaborate with the aerospace operations team to ensure equipment readiness and availability for critical aerospace functions.
8.    Recommend improvements and modifications to enhance the performance and reliability of equipment.
9.    Adhere to environmental regulations regarding disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
10.    Perform any other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a formal diesel mechanic training program is preferred.
•    Experience:
3-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in an aerospace, aviation, or industrial setting. Experience with ground support equipment (GSE) is highly desired.

Required Skills:
•    Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
•    Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
•    Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment and software.
•    Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and repair techniques.
•    Knowledge of FAA regulations and safety standards related to ground equipment is a plus.
•    Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
•    Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and working in confined spaces or various weather conditions.
•    Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols required.
