Sr. Electronic Tech
Position Description
This position reports to Engineering or the Test Area Supervisor. This position will be responsible for performing varied engineering tasks as required to support Engineering, Testing, and Production requirements.
Qualifications
Sr. Engineering Tech position requires that the candidate meet the minimum entry requirements of the position and have achieved the maximum wage as a Tech II
Appointment to Sr. Engineering Tech position may be considered prior to achieving the highest wage of Tech II if the individual demonstrates competence and has advanced training in a related field and meets the minimum entry requirements of the position.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have achieved the maximum wage available for Electronic Tech II.
- Must demonstrate ability to diagnose typical failure conditions for rectifier assemblies, multipliers, and power supplies.
- Must demonstrate ability to accumulate test data and accurately communicate the data to assembly supervision and engineering.
- Must demonstrate ability to accurately set up test equipment for production test.
- Must demonstrate ability to produce test fixtures for new products.
- Must work effectively and efficiently with limited or no supervision.
- Must demonstrate cooperation with co-workers and supervision.
- Must have achieved an average performance review rating of 3.8 minimum for the previous 2 review periods.
- Must have no rating of less than 3 on any category in the past 2 review periods.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work Assignments. Work assignments will be directed by the Test Area Supervisor and will require performing production test duties as well as special project support.
Production Test. Most work will involve setup and test of high voltage diodes, rectifier assemblies, multipliers, and power supplies. This position requires accurate testing. Accuracy is critical and impacts highly sensitive customer applications. Attention to detail is vital.
Read Technical Drawings/Schematics. Will be frequently required to read electrical schematics, prepare proper test setup, perform required electrical testing.
Test Equipment. Extensive use of oscilloscopes, volt meters, current meters, and various other test equipment is required. This position requires thorough knowledge of required equipment.
Failure Analysis. Products that do not conform to required specification will be tested and a thorough diagnosis will be supplied to engineering and production supervision. Written reports may be required.
Test Fixture Design. Products may require use of non-standard equipment or test fixtures. This position will assigned special projects that require analysis of need and construction of fixtures to meet the requirement.
Test Data Analysis. Products require review of test data for detection of trends that may indicate a potential for future non-conformance. This position will review test data and report accurate information to production supervisor and engineering. Written reports may be required.
Design of Solutions: You will be required to receive partially defined projects from Engineering or Production Supervisors and to produce fixtures, jigs, tooling, test equipment and other types of electrical/mechanical apparatus. These solutions must demonstrate a high level of skill and must be verified by engineering and production prior to being considered for this position. These skills must provide engineering solutions and must be above and beyond the skills that are required in typical Tech II level positions. Examples include:
- Producing finished component testing mechanisms for Test Area having only received a minimal description of the desired product.
- Producing finished assembly testing systems having only received a minimal description of the desired product.
- Diagnosing failure mechanisms in products and providing appropriate corrective and preventative actions having only received minimal engineering support.
