Full Charge Bookkeeper
Northridge, CA
Full time – Temp to hire
Monday thru Friday – 8am to 5pm
$65k to $75k a year, depending on experience.
High end machine shop focusing on constant improvement through training of employees, upgrades to equipment, and elimination of nonessential practices is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to join their team in Northridge.
Summary: The Full Charge Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the financial records of the firm's clients, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards. This position requires experience with all aspects of financial management, including, where applicable, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, and fixed asset depreciation. The Full Charge Bookkeeper must have strong analytical and communication skills, be able to work independently, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial records of the firm's clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll ledgers, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Process and record all financial transactions for the clients, including cash receipts and disbursements, credit card transactions, bank deposits, payroll transactions, loan amortization adjustments, and maintain depreciation schedules.
- Prepare and timely file certain compliance tax returns for the clients, such as sales tax returns, business license renewals, business property tax statements, including assist with audits, tax planning and tax preparation.
- Reconcile bank and credit card, loan balances statements for the clients, and resolve any discrepancies. Knowledge of capital account closing entries and reconciliation of retained earnings or capital accounts as appropriate.
- Review financial statements of the clients and provide recommendations for improvement, changes or unusual items.
- Communicate financial information to the clients and assist with any questions surrounding accounting principles or treatments of transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting, with a proven track record of managing financial records for clients in a public accounting firm or similar multi-client environment.
- Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks both online and desktop versions, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with team members and clients.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Understanding of tax laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local taxes.
- Familiarity with GAAP and financial reporting requirements for public accounting firms.
