Assistant Cook
A local school is looking to hire a hard-working assistant cook to clean, stock, and maintain the kitchen as well as help with the preparation of meals for students. Responsibilities include retrieving ingredients and measuring ingredients as per the cook's instructions. You should also be able to ensure that all work areas are properly sanitized.
To be successful as an assistant cook, you should be able to demonstrate knowledge of proper food handling procedures. An assistant cook should be able to follow all food health and safety regulations and display organizational skills to ensure the timely completion of kitchen duties.
Assistant Cook Responsibilities:
- Preparing meal ingredients for the cook, which includes washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing ingredients.
- Assisting in unloading food supplies from delivery trucks.
- Properly washing and drying all dishes and cooking utensils.
- Removing garbage.
- Mopping and sweeping the kitchen areas as required.
- Storing ingredients and food items according to food safety standards.
- Kind and friendly interaction with young children.
Assistant Cook Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven experience helping in kitchen settings.
- A food handler's license.
- The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- The ability to safely use kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Benefits: Accrued sick leave and optional medical benefits during probationary period. Possible full benefits after probationary period.
Wage: $15.16-$16.86
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am-1pm. Schedule may vary.
