Medical Assistant
We are seeking to hire a medical assistant who will be responsible for assisting with administrative duties at our facility. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting our practitioners.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have your medical assistant certification and have at least one to two years of prior experience in a medical setting. A basic understanding of patient care and medical terminology will be a huge advantage for you.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities:
- Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Coordinating the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and patient medical record maintenance.
- Preparing treatment rooms for clinical examinations.
- Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.
- Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and ability to access the internet.
- Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while concurrently respecting corporate policies, procedures and priorities.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
- Ability to communicate job-related information to individuals and small groups.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to concentrate in sometimes hectic and stressful settings.
- Ability to read and understand written materials.
- Must regard work as confidential.
- Must have current driver’s license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with organization's insurance agency.
- Occasional travel required.
- Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
Medical Assistant Requirements:
- Must have certification from a medical assistant program or military medical corpsman program.
- One to two years of experience in a medical setting.
- Have a high school diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
- A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.
Physical demands: Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation, and visual changes in patient condition. Hearing must be sufficient to interact with a patient who may be unable to speak at a normal voice level. Mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to assist patients and handle required instruments.
Hours:
Full time. Evaluation Hire.
Monday – Friday
8:00am-6:00pm, hours may vary
Pay Rate:
$21.50-$23.70 - per hour, DOE
Benefits: Accrued sick leave and optional medical benefits provided by Express Employment during probationary period. Full benefits provided by company once hired on.
