Job Full Description
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Yard Jockey Driver with a Tanker Endorsement to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently moving trailers within our yard, as well as loading and unloading liquid chemicals from tanker trailers. This position requires excellent operational skills and adherence to safety protocols to maintain smooth yard operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trailer Movement: Safely maneuver trailers around the yard using a terminal tractor or yard truck.
- Loading & Unloading: Operate equipment to load and unload liquid chemicals from tanker trailers, ensuring proper handling and adherence to hazardous materials guidelines.
- Inspection & Maintenance: Perform pre- and post-shift inspections of equipment and trailers; report any maintenance or safety issues to management.
- Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork and maintain accurate records of trailer movements, loads, and safety checks.
- Coordination: Communicate effectively with yard personnel, dispatchers, and supervisors to ensure seamless operations and resolve any issues promptly.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hazardous materials handling procedures.
Qualifications:
- Licensing: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement required at the time of hire.
- Additional Endorsements: HazMat endorsement is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of Class A driving experience, preferably with prior exposure to tanker operations.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and operating equipment in various weather conditions.
- Location: Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance (e.g., within 30 miles) of the designated work location.

- Environment: Work is performed in an outdoor yard setting, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and physical activity.
- Schedule: Full-time position with regular shifts; daily home time is provided.
- Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols is required to mitigate risks associated with hazardous materials and heavy equipment operations.
