Job Full Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Yard Jockey Driver with a CDL A License to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely moving trailers and goods within our yard and delivering to multiple local distribution centers. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics processes and meeting customer delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate trucks to move trailers within the yard and to local distribution centers.
- Deliver goods promptly and accurately to designated locations while maintaining adherence to delivery schedules.
- Inspect trailers and vehicles for proper loading, securing, and safety compliance.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.
- Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to coordinate efficient loading and unloading of goods.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and any incidents or issues.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety guidelines, and company policies.
- Assist with organizing the yard, including positioning trailers for easy access and retrieval.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management to address any delivery or operational concerns.
Qualifications
- License: Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Prior experience as a yard jockey or truck driver preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to climb in and out of trucks, lift/move up to [Insert Weight, e.g., 50 lbs], and work in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of DOT regulations and commitment to safe driving practices.
- Availability: Flexibility to work shifts as needed, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with local distribution routes and logistics operations.
- Experience with backing and maneuvering trailers in tight spaces.
- Knowledge of inventory management and basic warehouse operations.
