We’re looking for a dedicated Ophthalmic Scribe to assist our eye physicians by ensuring accurate documentation and helping create a seamless patient experience. What You’ll Do:
- Establish rapport with patients and assist in their evaluation by documenting chief complaints, medical history, and ocular findings
- Accurately document medical visits and procedures in real time while the physician performs exams
- Communicate with patients about follow-up care, procedures, surgeries, and scheduling
- Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment and ensure exam lanes are correctly set up each day
- Navigate NextGen or applicable EHR software efficiently
- Assist with prescription refills, medical inventory, and documentation of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Prepare and clean surgical instruments for sterile processing
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with medical standards
- Support the team with other administrative and clinical tasks as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer literacy and ability to type or write legibly in a dimly lit setting
- Highly energetic, positive attitude, and a team player
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other office locations
- Prior medical scribe experience (2+ years preferred)
- Knowledge of ophthalmology billing/coding is a plus
- Experience with NextGen or other EHR systems preferred
Preferred Certifications (Not Required, But a Plus!):
- Certified Ophthalmic Scribe (OSC) (or willingness to obtain within one year)
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
