We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality patient care in an ophthalmology setting. You will assist with various clinical tasks, ensuring that patients receive the best possible experience during their visits. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to work effectively with both pediatric and adult patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary eye exams and tests, including measuring visual acuity and taking vital signs.
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Educate patients on procedures and provide instructions for pre- and post-operative care.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy to assist in identifying eye conditions and abnormalities.
- Support front desk operations as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and equipment.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a similar healthcare role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to ophthalmology.
- Familiarity with pediatric care is a plus, as you may work with younger patients.
- Knowledge of retail math can be beneficial for assisting in sales-related tasks.
- Ability to manage medical records accurately while adhering to HIPAA standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and staff.
- A background in retail sales is advantageous for those involved in eyewear sales or product recommendations.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in inhalation techniques if applicable to specific procedures.
