Job Summary: This position is responsible for managing and updating parcel records, processing changes due to ownership, reconfigurations, usage, and physical alterations. The role supports the preparation of real and personal property tax rolls in alignment with Florida Statutes, the Florida Administrative Code, and appraisal guidelines.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Review, research, and interpret various recorded documents (e.g., deeds, probate records, certificates, etc.) and unrecorded documents impacting ownership, sales, valuations, exemptions, and map discrepancies.
  • Identify and implement necessary assessed value changes due to parcel reconfigurations, ownership modifications, classification or exemption updates, and physical changes.
  • Analyze and respond to edit reports, determining appropriate actions as needed.
  • Update, analyze, and reconcile all data related to the NAL, NAP, and Recapitulation reports, including non-ad valorem and ad valorem rolls.
  • Evaluate data to identify issues within all phases of the tax roll process.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal staff, taxpayers, and other government agencies, providing clear resolutions to inquiries and issues.

Competencies: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of current property appraisal programs, ownership types, and the relationship between ownership transfers and property valuation.
  • Understanding of the assessment calendar, key deadlines, and the Florida Statutes and DOR regulations for real and tangible property assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Skills in performing and verifying mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Detail-Oriented to manage high-volume tasks with precision.
  • Independence in following instructions and handling assigned tasks without direct oversight.
  • Communication skills to clearly address questions from managers, colleagues, and the public, both verbally and in writing.
  • Interpersonal Skills to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.
