Job Summary Transportation Lead
The Transportation Lead is responsible for assisting with the oversight of the day-to-day coordination of the transportation operations, ensuring shipments out of the facility are handled quickly, safely. This includes planning and coordinating the activities of the drivers, oversight of transportation equipment, coordinating with outside companies, and making sure shipping documentation is prepared correctly. This position will also act as a back-up to the Transportation Manager and for Drivers when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Complying with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules and government regulations.
- Directing activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of fleet.
- Oversee the utilization of technology (IQ4) GPS Tracking system and (Smart Sense) Truck Temperature Devises to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide adequate systems of quality assurance to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers, and customers/clients.
- Maintain files of the driver’s temperature logs, cleaning schedules, vehicle inspection logs and mileage sheets.
- Manage retail pickup and delivery routes in coordination with the programs department and the retail rescue coordinator.
- Arranging repairs and routine maintenance of the truck fleet as needed.
- Assisting with renewal of vehicle titles and other paperwork when needed.
- Acknowledge agency needs to schedule JIT’s.
- Assist in training and completing road tests for new drivers.
- Accurately and efficiently fill, stage, and load agency orders.
- Maintain food safety, pest control using guidelines of AIB and Feeding America.
- Comply with safety policies and programs developed for driver and warehouse operations.
- Support volunteer activities as necessary and assigned.
- Serves as a member of the Disaster Response Team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned even if not list in job duties
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and five years minimum experience in transportation management required.
- Experience with transportation; routing, scheduling, forecasting, planning, logistics, delivery performance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation operations, FMCSA, and DOT regulations.
- Maintain Serv-Safe certification.
- Experience in driving, forklift, and electric pallet jacks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
- Computer literate in Microsoft applications.
- Honesty, integrity, and commitment to fighting hunger in Southwest Florida
- Ability to relate effectively with other staff, volunteers, agency representatives and the public.
- Heavy Lifting is required
- Valid Florida Class “A” CDL driver’s license or Class B. Clean driving record
Position Type: Full Time/Temp to Perm
Pay: $20.00-$22.00
Schedule: 7am-4pm Mon- Fri Some overtime hours may be required
