Reception duties:
Key responsibilities may include:
- Welcoming visitors and directing them to the appropriate staff or location.
- Answering phone calls, taking messages, and directing calls to relevant staff members.
- Maintaining a professional and welcoming atmosphere at the front desk.
- Checking in visitors and ensuring they sign in appropriately.
Administrative tasks:
- Maintaining student records, including contact information, medical details, and attendance.
- Scheduling appointments for students, parents, and therapists
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence
- Filing important documents and maintaining accurate records
Communication and liaison:
- Communicating effectively with parents, students, staff, and outside agencies
- Providing information about school policies, procedures, and programs
- Acting as a liaison between the front office and other departments within the school
Special needs considerations:
- Understanding and respecting the unique needs of students with disabilities
- Communicating with parents and staff regarding student needs and accommodations
- Assisting with student transitions and providing support as needed
Other duties may include:
- Maintaining office supplies
- Assisting with special events and activities
- Managing student transportation schedules
- Maintaining confidentiality of student information
Required skills and qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in computer software, including email and office applications
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of special education terminology and procedures is preferred
- Experience working with individuals with special needs is beneficial
