Senior Tax Manager
As an integral part of our senior leadership team, the Senior Tax Manager will report directly to the CEO and will lead and manage multiple tax preparers and engagements in a manner that reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence while providing timely, relevant, and superior quality tax services for our clients. As a key member of our tax team, you are responsible for ensuring that all members of the tax team are focused on helping our clients effectively manage their tax obligations proactively and responsibly, in a manner that is consistent with our core values.
This position works closely with internal and external clientele to build and execute sustainable tax strategies, improve internal controls and processes, tax risk management. As part of the tax team, the Senior Tax Manager is responsible for the preparation, management, and quality control review of all client tax returns including corporate, partnership, individual, trusts, and estate. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, preparation of quarterly and year end estimates, draft response letters to IRS and state notices when needed, reconcile accounts, make adjusting entries, prepare financial statements. As well as other general accounting and bookkeeping functions and all other ad hoc requests that might be required.
Job Description
· Responsible for managing and ensuring company’s tax policies and internal control procedures are following relevant tax codes on local, state, and federal levels.
· Ensures top quality client service and oversees total engagement activity.
· Research complex tax issues using internal revenue code, treasury regulations and other relevant authorities/guidance.
· Perform technical tax review of assigned tax returns of varying complexity.
· Interact directly with clients, managing questions, planning, consulting, etc. – approximately 20- 40% of your time.
· Assist in the recruitment of new and experienced staff.
· Deliver high quality tax planning and advisory services to existing tax clients.
· Preparation, management, and quality control review of all federal and state income taxes for individuals, businesses, benefit funds, real estate, and exempt organizations.
· Builds new and existing client relationships and demonstrates knowledge of client business.
· Prepares internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, private letter rulings and other documents for submission to the IRS or Treasury Department.
· Train, supervise and mentor staff along with reviewing and evaluating their work.
· Manage multiple clients, budgets and production goals.
Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required
· Masters in Accountancy or equivalent preferred
Experience:
· Minimum of Five to Seven years prior experience in public accounting firm
· Three or Five Years of Management Experience
· Must provide credible professional recommendations
License/Certifications:
· CPA or EA License required
Software:
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Prior experience with various tax, file management and practice management applications and research tools beneficial
· Prior experience with QuickBooks, Ultratax, Practice, Planner and Workpapers a plus

· Advanced understanding and experience preparing tax returns including corporate, partnership, individual, trusts and estate planning.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Knowledge of internal accounting controls and professional standards and regulations (GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.).
· Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style and messaging to effectively communicate with professionals at all levels, both within the client organization and the firm.
· Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently and within a group environment.
· Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, and ability to break down complex issues and implement appropriate resolutions.
· Capable of working in a demanding, deadline driven environment with a focus on excellence, stewardship, respect, integrity, personal and community development.
· Strong project management skills.
· Possesses analytical skills with detail orientation.
