Overview
Our client is a 40 + year old, locally owned, growing Commercial General Contractor. They have grown by over 50% the last few years and are positioned for future growth as they have a solid 2 year project backlog. They will be breaking ground on 6 projects in the 1st quarter of 2025 that range in scope from $20m to $60m. They have an impressive list of clients in the area that are responsible for 80% repeat business. They have completed projects across Commercial, Education, Sports & Recreation, Multi-family, Government, Hospitality and Sustainable Construction. They have a wonderful culture with a very high retention rate. Currently they are looking for a Lead Estimator to lead and manage a department of 3-4 people. This role reports directly to Ownership with a generous compensation and benefits program. It is a very visible role that will interact with senior staff, clients and numerous sub-contractors.

They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lead Estimator to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating and/or project management, with the ability to analyze project specifications and prepare accurate cost estimates. This role is crucial in ensuring that their projects are completed within budget and on schedule, while also maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for construction projects.
- Utilize estimating software such as Planswift, Equal or MC2 to create detailed cost breakdowns.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and timelines.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best prices for materials and services.
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Implement cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budget constraints.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders outlining estimates and justifications.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and regulations that may impact project costs.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is required.

- Experience in preconstruction services at the Schematic, Design Development and GMP phases of design
- Proficiency in using estimating software.
- Strong understanding of construction management principles and practices.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable contract terms.
- Familiarity with cost control methodologies and techniques in a construction environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaboration with team members and clients.
