Position Overview:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and supporting the organization's IT systems and infrastructure. This includes overseeing systems management, monitoring, incident management, outage reporting, configuration management, and change management. The role involves proactive planning and implementation of system upgrades, troubleshooting, and ensuring seamless system performance. The Systems Administrator collaborates with technical teams and stakeholders to enhance the efficiency of IT operations, making key decisions and recommendations to resolve issues effectively. Additionally, the role involves supervising IT Systems Analysts and providing on-call support for mission-critical issues outside regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer operating systems, software, and end-user applications.
- Perform system upgrades, patch installations, and regular server maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues promptly.
- Manage system backups, deployments, and desktop application packaging.
- Provide technical support and direct supervision to IT Systems Analysts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical needs and issues.
- Maintain network and server security, optimize performance, and handle user account management.
- Train end-users on hardware and software best practices.
- Administer enterprise applications such as Exchange, Office 365, and Azure.
- Ensure adherence to system security standards, backup procedures, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Evaluate and recommend vendor products aligned with the organization’s IT strategy.
- Manage and configure server hardware, virtualization systems, and endpoint security.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to ensure reliable network and system performance.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical staff.
- Experience with Microsoft Server 2019+, Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with network management and troubleshooting, including VPN and security measures.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms such as Nutanix/Hyper-V.
- Expertise in enterprise systems, endpoint security, and mobile device management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in high-pressure environments.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, including managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Exchange.
- 3+ years of experience with virtualization environments.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, VCP) or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) for Windows Server
- VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work on-call and overtime as needed.
