The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in lab equipment testing, specifically for carbon black analysis, and possess a deep understanding of the testing methodologies for pellet size analysis, surface area measurement, DBP (dibutyl phthalate) absorption, and other critical quality parameters.

Key Responsibilities in Quality Control Management:

  • Lead and manage the quality control department to ensure the highest standards of quality for products produced in the pyrolysis plant.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce QC policies, procedures, and protocols in line with industry standards and company objectives.
  • Oversee testing of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods to verify adherence to specifications.
  • Manage the collection and analysis of product samples, ensuring accuracy and integrity of results.

Key Responsibilities in Lab Equipment Testing:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of lab testing equipment and ensure all instruments are properly calibrated and functioning.
  • Ensure all testing equipment meets the necessary standards for carbon black testing, including but not limited to particle size analysis, surface area measurement, and DBP testing.
  • Conduct routine checks, troubleshoot equipment issues, and manage the repair and calibration process for lab instruments.

Carbon Black testing and Analysis Requirements

Lead and supervise testing of carbon black produced in the pyrolysis process, including critical parameters such as:

  • Pellet Size Analysis: Monitor and analyze particle size distribution using appropriate methods.
  • Surface Area Analysis: Perform BET surface area testing using nitrogen adsorption/desorption.
  • DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate) Absorption: Ensure accurate measurement of DBP absorption as an indicator of carbon black structure and porosity.
  • Conduct and analyze tests for other quality parameters including ash content, volatile matter, and moisture content.
  • Interpret test results, identify quality trends, and provide recommendations for process improvements.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and international standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.) for all product specifications.
  • Coordinate with the production team to implement corrective actions and process improvements based on QC findings.
  • Lead internal audits and prepare for external audits related to product quality.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of testing results, equipment calibration logs, and any quality-related documentation.

Team Leadership & Training:

  • Report QC performance to upper management, including key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to optimize pyrolysis process parameters based on QC findings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in quality management or laboratory techniques are a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality control or laboratory management, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with carbon black testing and analysis, including pellet size distribution, surface area analysis (BET), DBP absorption, and other related methods.
  • Proven experience with lab equipment calibration and troubleshooting, particularly in relation to analytical instruments used in pyrolysis or carbon black testing.
  • Knowledge of pyrolysis processes, waste-to-energy technologies, or related industries is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of QC methodologies, laboratory best practices, and product testing procedures.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, ASTM) and environmental regulations applicable to pyrolysis or carbon black production.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, interpret test results, and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on team development and collaboration.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
