Turret Forklift Operator Job Description

Position Overview: A turret forklift operator is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of a turret forklift to move, stack, and organize materials within a warehouse or distribution center. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Operation:

    • Operate turret forklifts to lift, move, and place materials in designated locations.
    • Maneuver the forklift in narrow aisles and high-bay racking systems.
  2. Material Handling:

    • Retrieve and place pallets or products from high shelves or racking systems.
    • Ensure proper stacking and secure placement of items to avoid damage.
  3. Inventory Management:

    • Scan and update inventory systems to maintain accurate stock levels.
    • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as required.
  4. Safety and Maintenance:

    • Conduct daily inspections of the forklift to ensure it is in good working condition.
    • Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
    • Adhere to company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  5. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with warehouse staff to meet shipping, receiving, and storage objectives.
    • Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and prevent delays.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid forklift operator certification (specific to turret forklifts is a plus).
  • Proven experience operating a turret forklift in a warehouse or similar environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to warehouse environments, including varying temperatures.
  • Standing, sitting, or operating equipment for extended periods.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes, gloves, and helmets.
