The ideal candidate will bring outstanding attention to detail in performing laboratory duties and be physically capable of performing these tasks by delivering results in a systematic and timely fashion. The R & D Technician reports to the Technical Manager, which includes a broad range of duties and responsibilities to support polymer research including conducting R & D work on the laboratory extruder, running formulations, running injection molding machine, preparing test specimens, measuring dimensions of test samples, performing analytical tests on lab batches, gathering data, accurate recordkeeping, and adhering to safety and company policies as per Employer’s Handbook or company policies.
Work schedule:
Monday – Friday 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm (after training period)
Additional hours may be required.
Qualifications:
· 1 year experience in compounding/manufacturing facility, preferred.
· 1 year experience in analytical or plastics testing methods and equipment, preferred.
· Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), with an emphasis on Excel for data entry and record keeping.
· Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Deliver results.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Assist Technical Manager in the development of new formulations and their analytical testing with record-keeping technology.
· Operate laboratory extruder based on Research and Development activities, support production activities.
· Compile and analyze data from compounding and testing projects.
· Test products and run formulations in batches as per standard operating procedure and requirements of the project.
· Maintain, operate, and calibrate laboratory equipment, including maintaining inventory for raw material and critical components.
· Able to conduct small scale experiments relevant to understanding of components in a system.
