Job Description for a Porter:
Responsibilities:
- Luggage Handling:
- Assist guests with checking in and checking out by transporting luggage to and from rooms.
- Carry, load, and unload luggage or other heavy items.
- Ensure that luggage is handled with care to avoid damage.
- Guest Services:
- Greet guests upon arrival and offer assistance with their bags or other needs.
- Provide information about the facilities, amenities, and services available at the establishment.
- Escort guests to their rooms and assist with any special requests or inquiries.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Ensure that the lobby, hallways, and other public areas are clean and orderly.
- Report any maintenance issues to the appropriate department (e.g., broken elevators, light fixtures, etc.).
- Transporting Goods:
- Move items such as cleaning supplies, linens, or equipment to designated areas.
- Ensure that items are properly stored and organized.
- Additional Duties:
- Provide basic concierge services, such as assisting with directions or making reservations.
- Monitor the premises for any unusual activities or security concerns.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Physical stamina for lifting and carrying items.
- Customer service skills to interact effectively with guests and staff.
- Attention to detail for handling luggage and keeping areas clean.
- Communication skills to assist guests with inquiries and requests.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customer service role, particularly in hospitality, is a plus.
- Knowledge of basic safety and emergency procedures.
This role is crucial for ensuring that guests have a positive experience and that the premises run smoothly.
