Quality Technician

 

Job Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that products meet established standards of quality and reliability. This role involves conducting inspections, testing products, monitoring quality trends, and working closely with other departments to resolve quality issues. The Quality Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of products and processes, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Quality Inspection and Testing:

  • Perform inspections and tests on incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Use various measurement tools and equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, surface roughness testers, and scales to conduct precise measurements.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing rework and waste, and inputting data into quality databases.

  • Report non-conformances and assist in the development of corrective actions.

Process Monitoring:

  • Monitor production processes to ensure they operate within established quality parameters.

  • Collect defects and rework data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Deficiency Identification and Resolution:

  • Identify quality deficiencies and collaborate with operations and engineering teams to resolve issues using root cause analysis.

  • Participate in problem-solving activities to address and prevent quality issues.

Standards and Procedures Development:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality standards, inspection methods, and testing procedures.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintain and calibrate quality assurance equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

  • Identify and recommend new equipment or techniques to improve the quality inspection process.

Training and Support:

  • Assist in training and supporting production staff on quality processes and the proper use of measurement tools.

  • Assist in the development of training materials and quality-related documentation.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting and implementing improvements to products, processes, and quality systems.

  • Participate in quality audits and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:

  • 3-5 years in Quality Assurance or a manufacturing environment.

  • Technical degree or A.S.Q. certification is a plus.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Skilled with measuring tools and equipment, including micrometers, calipers, weigh scales, etc.

  • Strong understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving:

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Able to clearly convey information to diverse audiences.

Work Ethic and Accountability:

  • Takes ownership and accountability for work.

  • Keeps the team informed and collaborates effectively.

  • Focused, results-oriented, and motivated to exceed minimum standards.

Technical Skills:

  • Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM.

  • Tech-savvy and quick to learn new software and tools.

  • Adaptable to dynamic environments and quick to learn new concepts.

  • Agile working style, willing to take on new tasks and go beyond job description.

  • High integrity, dependability, and a strong sense of urgency.

Job Details:

  • Full-Time Position

  • Wages: $25-$30 p/hr DOE
  • Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Occasional overtime required)

  • Benefits, PTO, Holiday Pay
