Rental Coordinator Trainee – Heavy Equipment Industry
Location: Hodgkins, IL
Pay: $28/hour

We are seeking a Rental Coordinator Trainee to join our team. This is not a desk job – our rental coordinators work hands-on with equipment, instructing and demonstrating proper operation to customers. If you have experience as an equipment operator, heavy equipment mechanic, or truck mechanic and are interested in a new career direction, we encourage you to apply!
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in crane rental, truck rental, heavy equipment rental, or agricultural equipment rental is highly preferred.
- Candidates with auto rental experience typically do not match this role.
- Must be comfortable climbing on, around, and operating equipment in all types of weather. This is not a shirt-and-tie position.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and manage inbound rental inquiries while proactively making outbound calls.
- Assess customer needs and match them with the right equipment for their job.
- Maintain accurate rental contracts, invoices, and required documentation.
- Demonstrate or instruct customers on proper equipment operation.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics for equipment rentals and returns.
- Communicate with Sales, Service, and Operations teams to maximize fleet utilization.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment status and availability.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and safety standards for fleet vehicles.
- Identify and track “lost rental sales” for business improvement.
- Develop industry knowledge in boom trucks and related equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Prior experience in construction equipment rental or operation is a plus but not required.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physically fit with no limitations that prevent equipment operation.
- CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one.
