Spot Weld Set-Up Operator – Metal Fabrication
Location: Cicero, IL
Shift: Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – Midnight

Job Description
A metal fabricating company in Cicero, IL is seeking an experienced Spot Weld Set-Up Operator. The ideal candidate will be capable of setting up and operating Banner and Amada spot welding equipment for production and prototype fabrication using steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials. The company will only consider candidates with the ability to set up spot welding machines or those with extensive experience as spot welding operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, bills of materials, and work orders for the fabrication of welded parts
- Perform job setups and assist others in the department
- Perform light maintenance on welding equipment, copper tips, and fixtures to ensure equipment availability and functionality in the spot welding area
- Keep accurate production records, including first-piece inspections, defect tracking, and job-specific paperwork
- Measure and verify product requirements using tape measures, calipers, and other tools
- Follow specified tolerances and read decimal charts and complex drawings to ensure accuracy
- Communicate non-conforming items and material shortages to the QC Inspector or Supervisor
Qualifications
- Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Strong communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions
- Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers
- Ability to read simple and complex drawings to verify product specifications
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Must have good vision, including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Up to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Safety glasses and safety shoes are required
