Express Employment is seeking a bilingual receptionist for a local homeless Shelter. This position plays a critical role in providing initial support and assistance to individuals seeking shelter and services. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients warmly and respectfully, creating a welcoming environment.
  • Conduct initial intake interviews, gathering essential information such as name, contact information, and immediate needs.
  • Assess client eligibility for shelter services based on established criteria.
  • Provide information about available resources, programs, and services

Front Desk Operations:

  • Answer incoming calls and direct them to appropriate staff members.
  • Manage visitor access and security protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and service utilization.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and report generation.

Community Outreach:

  • Collaborate with community partners to identify and refer clients to additional resources.
  • Distribute informational materials about the shelter and its services.
  • Participate in outreach events and community meetings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Spanish/English bilingual is a requirement for this role
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably in a social service setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing and database management.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of social services and community resources.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or mental health challenges.

Hours: 8:00a-5:00p Monday to Friday

Pay: $17.50 per hour
