Extrusion Set-Up Technician
Location: Elkhart, IN
Shift: 2p - 12a, Monday - Thursday. Occasional OT on Fridays
Pay: $19 - $22

Job Summary
A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Extrusion Set-Up Technician to join the production team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating extrusion machinery, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring product quality. The technician will work closely with the Production Supervisor and play a key role in machine efficiency, safety, and product consistency.
Responsibilities
- Set up extrusion machinery and downstream equipment according to specifications
- Operate machines and work with multiple materials and configurations
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
- Complete detailed documentation related to machine setup and quality standards
- Identify and correct issues to minimize scrap and downtime
- Inspect parts and materials to ensure quality control
- Assist in training and mentoring operators
- Maintain compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards
- Support production team by filling in for operators during rotations and breaks
- Update set-up sheets and process documentation as needed
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Three or more years of experience in plastic extrusion preferred
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles is a plus
- Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, and tape measures preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read work orders and use a tape measure accurately within 1/16 inch
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and teamwork
- Knowledge of safety and quality control procedures
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 25 to 75 pounds as needed
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, and lift for ten-hour shifts
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
