Our client in Westfield, IN, a Specialty Food Manufacturer, has asked for our help finding a Material Handler / Receiver
Our client prides themselves on delivering the highest quality products to their customers efficiently and effectively. As the Material Handler/Receiver you play a crucial role in operations by managing the receipt and transport of materials between various departments. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to perform a variety of tasks on a precise daily schedule.
This job is an Evaluation, Contract-to-Hire job paying $18.00 per hour with good benefits.
Hours: First Shift, 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities for the Material Handler / Receiver:
- Receive and quality check all shipments according to Receiving Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of all shipments received, including lot numbers, dates, and quantities.
- Transfer and stage production materials in preparation for daily production shifts.
- Conduct daily walkthroughs of the Fulfillment area to re-stock product on the Ecommerce pick lines.
- Identify and recommend storage improvement opportunities to the Supply Chain Team.
- Store all received materials following FIFO and FEFO requirements.
- Prepare Bill of Lading for outbound shipments.
- Assist the Fulfillment team with transporting shipments to the shipping area.
- Operate lifts, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other transport equipment after training.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and internal operating protocols.
Essential Functions for the Material Handler / Receiver:
- Effective record-keeping skills.
- Ability to change tasks quickly and perform various job functions on a precise schedule.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 65 lbs.
- Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
- Operation of computers, telephones, and other manufacturing/warehouse equipment.
- Compliance with all Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP’s).
Qualifications for the Material Handler / Receiver:
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Proficient in MS Office software.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Preferred Skills for the Material Handler / Receiver:
- Experience in a food manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.
