Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Clerk

Location: Newton, Kansas

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a local Newton team. This position will be responsible for processing invoices promptly and accurately, preparing billing statements for accounts, and supporting the Controller with various accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Process invoices in a timely manner.
Prepare accounts payable checks.
Flag each vendor for payment.
Print checks for payment.
Attach checks to invoices and forward to Controller for approval.
Mail statements to accounts.
Follow up with accounts for timely invoice payments.
Answer inquiries from suppliers regarding invoices and payments.
Reconcile bank balances on a weekly basis.
Participate in monthly closing of accounts.
Prepare account analyses as requested.
Process daily deposits of credit card payments.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a bookkeeper or accounting clerk.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree or certificate in Accounting.
Two or more years of bookkeeping experience.
Experience in the automotive industry.

Skills and Attributes:

Goal-oriented and self-motivated.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
