Job Full Description
A Restoration Worker is responsible for repairing, restoring, and rebuilding structures, items, or materials that have been damaged due to events such as fires, floods, storms, or accidents. The role involves performing a wide range of tasks to bring damaged properties or objects back to their pre-damage condition, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to the restoration guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:

Damage Assessment and Inspection:
- Assess damage to buildings, furniture, or other structures to determine the scope of the restoration required.
- Inspect the extent of damage caused by fire, water, mold, or other factors.
- Work with restoration specialists, contractors, or supervisors to develop an action plan and timeline for restoration.

Cleaning and Debris Removal:
- Remove debris, damaged materials, and any hazardous substances (e.g., soot, water, mold).
- Use specialized cleaning tools and equipment to clean and sanitize affected areas.
- Perform tasks such as pressure washing, carpet cleaning, and removing smoke and odors from materials.

Structural Repairs:
- Repair or replace damaged building materials such as drywall, flooring, roofing, windows, and doors.
- Assist in re-installing electrical wiring, plumbing, and other systems if necessary.
- Perform minor carpentry, masonry, or painting tasks as part of the restoration process.

Water Damage Restoration:
- Use drying equipment (e.g., dehumidifiers, air movers) to remove moisture from affected areas.
- Identify and address water leaks or causes of moisture to prevent further damage.
- Ensure mold prevention and remediation where applicable.

Fire Damage Restoration:
- Clean and repair smoke and soot damage.
- Assess structural damage caused by fire and assist in rebuilding as necessary.
- Apply fire-retardant treatments to materials as needed.

- Identify areas with mold growth and use proper techniques to safely remove and treat affected areas.
- Ensure proper ventilation and drying to prevent future mold growth.

- Document damage and restoration progress for insurance claims or client records.
- Take before-and-after photos of restoration work for reporting purposes.
- Communicate any challenges or delays in the restoration process to supervisors or clients.

- Adhere to all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure that all work meets local, state, or federal building codes and safety standards.
- Report any safety hazards or issues to the supervisor immediately.

- Work alongside other restoration professionals, including contractors, supervisors, and cleaners, to complete the restoration project efficiently.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and contribute to the team’s overall success.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in construction, carpentry, or restoration is a plus.
- Experience: Prior experience in construction, demolition, restoration, or related fields is beneficial.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, or mold remediation is helpful.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to carefully follow restoration plans and ensure that all work is completed to specification.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues that arise during the restoration process.
- Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and the ability to follow safety guidelines while working in potentially hazardous environments.
