Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Millwright Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating, maintaining, and repairing a variety of equipment, including routers, saws, and sanders. As a Millwright Carpenter, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, ensuring everything is operating efficiently and meeting high-quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and repair a range of equipment, including routers, saws, sanders, drills, and bits.
  • Read and interpret plans and blueprints to ensure tasks are completed according to project requirements.
  • Perform precision joinery work using mortisers or dovetail jigs to shape connecting edges and set pieces of wood in place.
  • Finish wood items and construction using sanding techniques to achieve smooth, professional results.
  • Shape wood using chisels, rasps, and files to create detailed and precise components.
  • Set up and maintain cutters, drills, and bits, ensuring proper function and accuracy.
  • Assemble, install, and troubleshoot machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and to specification.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and is performed in a clean, organized environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Millwright Carpenter or in a similar mechanical or carpentry role.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining equipment such as routers, saws, sanders, drills, and bits.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and the ability to follow detailed plans.
  • Expertise in joinery techniques, including the use of mortisers and dovetail jigs.
  • Experience in sanding and finishing wood items to a high standard.
  • Ability to shape wood with precision using chisels, rasps, and files.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with machinery installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of various wood finishes and techniques.
  • Previous experience in residential or commercial construction projects.
