Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Location:  Harahan, LA 
Reports To: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor


Position Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, and be forklift certified. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of all incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as providing outstanding customer support. The candidate must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining inventory integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shipping & Receiving:

    • Process all incoming and outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently.
    • Inspect products and verify items for condition and quantity upon receipt or prior to shipping.
    • Prepare and package orders for delivery to customers.
    • Generate and update shipping labels, packing slips, and shipping documentation.
  • Inventory Management:

    • Record and update inventory levels in the system.
    • Monitor stock levels and work with the team to reorder as necessary.
    • Assist in performing periodic inventory counts and audits.
  • Customer Service:

    • Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries regarding orders, shipping, and deliveries.
    • Resolve any shipping discrepancies or customer issues in a professional and timely manner.
    • Maintain clear communication with customers and other departments to ensure orders are processed smoothly.
  • Forklift Operation:

    • Safely operate forklifts and other equipment to load/unload goods, organize stock, and move inventory.
    • Ensure proper stacking and storage of materials in the warehouse.
  • Administrative Support:

    • Use Microsoft Excel to maintain spreadsheets, track shipments, and generate reports.
    • Use Microsoft Outlook for scheduling shipments, coordinating with vendors, and internal communication.
    • Maintain accurate records for all shipping and receiving transactions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations.
    • Customer service experience with a focus on resolving issues and maintaining relationships.
  • Skills:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook for inventory tracking, reporting, and communication.
    • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Forklift certification (or the ability to obtain certification within a specified period).
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and move items.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand or move for extended periods.
