Express Employment is looking for a Fleet Operations Manager for their client in Detroit, MI. This is a direct hire opportunity with a fluid and lubricant provider for the automotive and industrial communities. You will be responsible for overseeing a fleet of trucks and cars across the company and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams within the organization. 

Fleet Operations Manager Responsibilities:
•    Oversee all local garage activities including supervision of in-house mechanics and third-party vendors on repairs, maintenance, and inspections of fleet.
•    Maintain fleet inventory (availability, location, and status).
•    Provide fleet maintenance solutions to achieve budgeted costs.
•    Maintain fleet software system to track all repairs, maintenance schedule, safety training and inspections.
•    Monitor fuel use, files IFTA reports, and implement strategies to reduce costs.
•    Track and analyze fleet performance metrics and continually make improvements where needed.
•    Performs comprehensive fleet budgeting process that assesses site needs, vehicle specifications, delivery requirements, load capacity, and mileage.
•    Ensure vehicle compliance with safety laws, regulations, codes and rules.
•    Conduct inspections, update registrations, adhere to safety standards and keep accurate records.
•    Works closely with company dispatchers for booking fleet backhauls, tracking and managing proof of deliveries.
•    Recording, documenting and reviewing accidents, injuries and incidents involving the fleet.
•    Analyze and monitor vehicle utilization rates, recommending adjustments to fleet size and composition as needed to meet business demands.

Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations or a related field preferred.
•    CDL or another vehicle or machine operator’s license a plus, but not required
•    5-7 years of fleet experience.
•    3-5 years supervisory experience.
•    Extensive knowledge of commercial transportation laws and regulations.
•    Strong organizational skills for strategic and tactical responsibility.
•    Customer focused and results oriented mind set
•    Analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Proficient in MS Office

Travel
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to company locations in the Midwest.  Some overnight stays may be required.
