Manual Machinist / Tool & Die Maker
Express Employment Professionals- Skilled Trade Division is direct hiring skilled Manual Machinists and Tool & Die Makers in Chelsea, MI! This role is crucial in the metal stamping plant, operating manual machinery to produce high-quality metal parts according to specifications.
Schedule: Full-time, 1st or 2nd shift
- 6:00am – 2:00pm
- 2:00pm – 10:00pm
8-hour schedules, Monday – Friday
Pay Rate: $20.50 – $30/hr., based on experience.

Skilled Position: As a Manual Machinist, you will operate manual machinery such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate metal parts. You'll ensure the parts meet exact specifications, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean, efficient work environment.
Manual Machinist will be responsible for: Set up and operation of manual machines, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining operations and specifications.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
- Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Make adjustments to machine settings to maintain product specifications and quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure proper functionality and minimize downtime.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Use math, geometry, metric, fractions, and decimals.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Manual Machinist in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal stamping.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in machining preferred.
- Proficiency in operating manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and machining operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety procedures and regulations.
Skills (Preferred): Experience in both VISI and Master Cam 2D/3D is a plus.
